Accountability Ratings

School districts receive accountability ratings from the federal government and from the state of Texas.

FEDERAL ACCOUNTABILITY SYSTEM

The Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), requires each State education agency to prepare and publish an annual report card with state, district, and campus level data. For more information and for MISD Federal Report carts, visit the MISD Federal Report Card website

TEXAS ACCOUNTABILITY SYSTEM

The state accountability system includes the Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR) and report cards for the school district and each campus.  These state provided school and district reports are known as the A-F Accountability System.

TEXAS ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE REPORT (TAPR)

TEXAS SCHOOL ACCOUNTABILITY RATINGS

  • What is the A-F Accountability System?
Established by House Bill 22 during the 85th Texas Legislature, the A–F accountability system provides educators, parents, and communities with a transparent view of the academic performance of Texas public schools based on three domains: Student Achievement, School Progress, and Closing the Gaps.

  • On what factors are the ratings based?
The ratings are based on performance on state standardized tests; graduation rates; and college, career, and military readiness outcomes.  The ratings examine student achievement, school progress, and whether districts and campuses are closing achievement gaps among various student groups.  The 2022 Academic Accountability System Overview  provides a one-page summary of the accountability system. You can  visit TXschools.gov to access accountability information for districts across the state of Texas. Alternatively, the following video provides a quick overview of the system.  For more information about the 2022 ratings visit the TEA 2022 Academic Accountability website.

  • How can I view MISD A-F Campus and District ratings?
For campus and district performance reports, view the TAPR Report page on the Midlothian ISD website.  At this time the state has not provided accountability ratings for the 2023 school year.  For more information, visit the TEA 2023 Academic Accountability website.
